Humana entered into a 3-year accountable care arrangement with the Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin, allowing its Medicare Advantage members access to more than 42 hospitals, 500 clinics and more than 5,000 physicians in Wisconsin. The agreement is based on Humana’s  Accountable Care Continuum, which adjusts value-based reimbursement levels depending upon the level of infrastructure and risk management ability of partner physicians and hospitals.

Our Take: Humana continues to extend the reach of its accountable care agreement-and may have a distinct advantage compared to other commercial agreements-by varying the reimbursement based on its partners’ ability to perform in value-based contracts.
