Kennedy Health and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals ended weeks of speculation and signed a letter of intent to merge. According to a joint statement from Kennedy and Jefferson, "The partnership will create an innovative 'hub and hub' model, where Kennedy will serve as the southern New Jersey hub of the fully integrated and expanded health system." Speaking to a crowd at Kennedy University Hospital, Kennedy president and CEO Joseph W. Devine said of the merger, ”Today we are going to be a part of one of the most successful institutions in the country.” The deal is subject to customary regulatory approval.
