Pocono Health System and Lehigh Valley Health Network have signed a letter of intent to merge, the organizations announced Thursday. Both company boards have approved the letter of intent. The deal remains subject to due diligence and regulatory approval. If the deal is completed the merger will take effect in the first half of 2016.
“The two organizations have a long history of productive partnerships in certain clinical areas, such as the affiliation to provide trauma and radiation oncology services to the region,” said Brian Nestor, Lehigh Valley president and CEO.
Lehigh Valley Health Network includes four hospitals, 12 health centers, and home health services. Pocono Medical Center has more than 200 physicians and 1,850 staff members.
